Dussehra in Jagdalpur is celebrated in honour of Sri Danteshwari Mother Goddess. She is highly revered and respected by the tribes. According to local legend she safeguarded the Bastar king from the attackers and gave him protection in the forests.
As a mark of their gratitude, the tribes still owe their allegiance to her. The deities from far flung tribal villages are brought to the Temple of Goddesses Danteshwari in Jagdalpur on this day.

“Great!I very much enjoyed my tour. Thank you for setting it up just for one person. Chotu was an excellent guide. As was the driver.I enjoyed visiting the villages, the markets, and exploring the area in general. My feedback would be that I do not like to photograph people just because they are wearing tribal gear - I find it a bit colonial and so I felt awkward about that part of the tour. I prefer to learn how people live and about the landscape, more generally. For example, I enjoyed the waterfall and seeing the bridges and the hydro project. I also learnt about food, the local politics and the tribal village futures.I have already recommended the tour to several people. Thank you again.”
“ “The Koraput trip was nice. The accommodation at Desia was very ethnic providing an appropriate atmosphere. The people were helpful & courteous. The guide to the Bonda village was knowledgeable. I am planning to go again on October to meet some other vulnerable tribes of that region. I would recommend my friends to contact you if they visit Koraput.””
